Three Northbound Lanes Closed Following Deadly Highway Incident

MIRAMAR, Fla. — A driver was struck and killed Thursday evening while changing a tire along Interstate 75 in Miramar, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The incident occurred in the northbound lanes of I-75, approximately a half-mile north of the Miramar Parkway exit.

According to FHP officials, the driver had pulled onto the right shoulder and was outside his vehicle changing a tire when he was struck by another vehicle.

The driver was pronounced dead following the collision. Authorities have not released his identity pending notification of his family.

Child Inside Vehicle

A 2-year-old child was inside the vehicle at the time of the incident, FHP said. The child was not reported to have been injured and was turned over to the child’s mother at the scene.

Authorities did not immediately release additional information about the circumstances surrounding the collision or the driver of the other vehicle.

I-75 Lanes Closed

The crash prompted a significant traffic response along the interstate.

Three northbound lanes of I-75 were closed, along with the northbound entrance ramp from Miramar Parkway, while authorities investigated the scene.

Drivers in the area were urged to expect delays and use caution around emergency crews.

The circumstances of the deadly collision remain under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
